About the book

Ask a man why the car is making that noise, and he may give you a twelve-minute diagnosis. Ask what has been happening inside him, and the entire report becomes two words: “I’m good.”

Many men learned early to carry responsibility, absorb pressure, and keep moving without asking what the weight was doing to them. A man’s life can keep working on the outside while parts of him go quiet inside it.

Permission: The Freedom to Be a Man does not ask men to abandon strength or walk away from responsibility. Rashaun Booker writes as a pastor who has had to face these questions in his own life, helping men understand what their strength has been protecting and recognize what it may now be costing them. It offers room to choose differently without turning honesty into another test of manhood.

You do not have to become a different man. You can keep the wisdom, loosen the armor, repair what needs repair, and live with more of yourself present. You have permission to be free.
